Michael "5000" Watts began DJing in the late '80s in the northside Houston neighborhood of Homestead. He was making regular speed mixtapes back then, but as the '90s progressed and the influence of DJ Screw began to shape the hip-hop landscape in Houston, he began to adopt Screw's approach and slow down his mixes. In fact, to this day he credits Screw's influence as being one of the main inspirations for the Swisha House click. In the mid to late '90s, Watts switched over to CDs and began to work with the group of rappers that would form the original Swisha House camp such as Archie Lee, Magno and Big Tiger, releasing Swisha Blast's first official album The Day Hell Broke Loose in 1999....
