Camp Lo Biography

Camp Lo is an American hip hop duo, formed in 1995, which hails from The Bronx, New York. The group consists of rappers Sonny Cheeba (Salahadeen Wilds) and Geechi Suede (Saladine Wallace), both of Muslim upbringing. They meld hip-hop with jazz sensibilities and funk consisting of Geechi Suede and Sonny Cheeba. After having a hit single, “Coolie High,” from The Great White Hype soundtrack in early 1996, they released their debut album, Uptown Saturday Night, in February 1997. The album was reissued two years later on Arista Records, and a second album (Let’s Do It Again) finally appeared in 2002. Five years later, Camp Lo returned with Black Hollywood (2007), their third album. It was produced entirely by Ski Beatz, who had worked with the duo on their previous albums as well.
