DJ 4or 5ive Biography

DJ 4our 5ive is a constant force in the music world, especially the world of Hip Hop. Born in the Bronx, he got his first exposure to hip hop at its early stages, while going to parties in the Bronx River Projects where Africa Bambaataa and the Zulu Nation did their thing. This is where he first witnessed DJ’s, Rappers, and B Boys showcase their skills at neighborhood events. It was then his fascination for hip hop began. After relocating to Brentwood, NY, he began his mastery of the turntables when he and his boys started a DJ crew called Freeze Force. He assumed the name DJ K-La Boss and he and his crew set out to DJ local parties on Long Island, New York... 4our 5ive’s notable talent created a buzz that naturally caught the attention of the Rap Duo EPMD, who later had him lay scratches on their debut album Strictly Business, released in 1988. His success with EPMD led to collaborations with high school friend Craig Mack and Bad Boy Entertainment. Building on the momentum of the Grammy nominated “Flava in Ya Ear” single, 4our 5ive parlayed his talents onto the “Big Mack” tour serving as the premier DJ for Craig Mack. He went on to be the official DJ for the 1994 “Bad Boy” tour which included: Total, Craig Mack, Junior M.A.F.I.A, Lil’ Kim and The Notorious B.I.G... Throughout the 90’s, he kept busy producing music, touring, and captivating audiences with his superior skills on the turntables. He toured with Mase to promote the multi-platinum debut album Harlem World, toured with Lil Cease on his solo project, and Lil’ Kim on her Notorious K.I.M and La Bella Mafia albums. He also worked with Untertainment Records which included: Charli Baltimore, Cam’Ron, and Jim Jones. In 1999 4our 5ive’s scratches were featured on P. Diddy’s Forever album and spun for the overseas tour. 4our 5ive continues to works with Diddy on various projects... 4our 5ive’s transition into the new millennium garnered him more success and greater opportunities to showcase his talent. In 2001, he spun the turntables for P. Diddy’s “United We Stand” concert, as well as Diddy’s 2002 televised performance during MTV’s “Staying Alive” HIV/AIDS benefit concert. He became a sought-after DJ working with Hip Hop artist Fabolous on a number of performances such as: The Roc The Mic Tour in 2003, AOL sessions, BET, Rip the Runway, BET, 106 & Park performance featuring Ne-Yo, and the Boost Mobile Rock Corps, Radio City Music Hall performance. He performed with Pop artist JOJO on the Teen Choice Awards, Orange Bowl Patch Beach Bash in 2004, and JOJO’s performance on MTV’s TRL. In addition, he served as the Music Director for the Rock and Roll Olympic Gymnastics tour in 2005. DJ 4our 5ive has a large catalog of mix tapes and won a mix-tape award at Justo’s Eighth Annual Mixtape Awards in 2003. His ability to spin for diverse audiences simply adds to his impressive resume... Coined a veteran turntablist, 4our 5ive has remained relevant through his ability to fuse old school Hip Hop skills with the evolving Rap culture of today. His most recent and notable credits include: spinning for VH1 Storytellers featuring Jay Z, teaming up with EPMD on their latest album We Mean Business, released in 2008, touring with Fabolous to promote the new album Loso's Way, touring with highly regarded, multi-platinum recording artist Lil’ Wayne during his recent “I Am Music” tour and performing with Lil’ Wayne during the 51st Annual Grammy Awards.
